The Committee is composed of distinguished senior executives, subject matter expert (SME) faculty from VUST, external accreditation and assessment specialists from prestigious national and international universities, and representatives of the student body. Together, these members are dedicated to supporting VUST in maintaining the highest standards of educational excellence and in achieving accreditation success.

The Committee is responsible for overseeing the academic quality of both degree and non-degree programs at VUST. Its duties include supervising, monitoring, evaluating, and continuously improving all academic programs. Operating under the supervision of the President, the Committee reports to both the President and the VUST Board of Directors & Trustees. This ensures that all programs comply with the standards set forth by SCHEV, accrediting organizations, and the U.S. Department of Education, while also addressing the needs of the student community. Additionally, the Committee reviews and approves all degree applications submitted to VUST.

The Committee oversees the academic quality for degree and non-degree programs at VUST.

The committee reviews and approves curriculums for each course and ensure requirements are met.

This committee provide advisory guidance and recommendations to the university to ensure that all programs meet the requirements of SCHEV.

The Committee considers and recommends the addition or removal of academic programs,
departments, and colleges to be approved by the BOD.

Term:

Each member will serve for three years except student members (one year term) and can be renewed for additional terms.

 Key Advisory Members

  • Dr. JieQi Chen (Co-Chair) – Ph.D. in Education, Tufts University; Post-Doctoral Fellow, Harvard University. A nationally and internationally recognized educator with over 20 years of experience, she served as Chair of the Accreditation Committee at Erikson Institute. She is currently the Barbara T. Bowman Professor, Senior Academic Advisor, and former Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty at Erikson Institute.

  • Dr. Doris Sartor – Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. Senior Executive Service (SES) member, Senior Director, and Commander at the U.S. Air Force Institute.

  • Dr. Jim Chen – Ph.D. in Computer Science. Professor and Director of Computer Science at George Mason University (GMU). He serves as Editor-in-Chief of AIP/IEEE Computing in Science & Engineering (CiSE) and as Overseas Vice President of Southwestern Jiaotong University.

  • Dr. Harry Wechsler – Ph.D. in Computer Science. Professor and Director of the Distributed and Intelligent Computation Center at George Mason University (GMU). He is a Fellow of both IEEE and IAPR.

  • Dr. Zhijun Zhang – Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering. Holds professional certifications including CCIE, CISSP, CCSP, and PMP. Currently serves as Chief Scientist of Cybersecurity at the World Bank, Washington, D.C.
