MSIT PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

VUST’s Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills essential to design, develop, and lead Information Technology (IT) teams and projects effectively within today’s global organizations. The MSIT program aims to prepare qualified professionals for mid-level IT positions in small and mid-sized companies. The MSIT program emphasizes real-world knowledge and practical experience while building a solid theoretical foundation to contribute meaningfully to IT solutions in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven global marketplace

MSIT Program Objectives

Graduates of the MSIT program will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

1. IT Leadership & Management Skills

Demonstrate the ability to apply advanced Information Technology knowledge across the core domains of the MSIT program.

2. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills

Demonstrate critical thinking to analyze, design, and lead solutions to Information Technology challenges using an analytical decision-making approach.

3. Communication and Team Management Skills

Demonstrate effective communication with stakeholders and the ability to mobilize and lead teams toward a common goal, with a clear understanding of organizational IT needs.

4. Integrity, Responsibility, and Professionalism

Demonstrate the ability to analyze and apply principles of integrity, responsibility, and professionalism to IT-related issues, including ethical decision-making in daily operations.

To graduate from the MSIT program, students must complete 12 courses totaling 54 quarter credits:

1. Core Courses
(7 Courses / 31.5 credits)

The core courses (31.5 credits) consist of in-depth courses covering the many key facets of Information Technology (IT). All students are required to complete the 7 core courses listed below:

2. Concentration Courses
(4 courses / 18 quarter credits)

After completing their core courses, MSIT students may choose a concentration area for advanced study in emerging and diverse IT fields. However, an academic advisor or the Director of Education may recommend that a student begin concentration courses before completing all core requirements.

MSIT PROGRAM FACULTY CREDENTIALS:

All faculty teaching in the MSIT program are Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with a minimum of four years of professional experience in their respective fields. They bring extensive teaching experience from universities and colleges and hold Ph.D. degrees (some are ABDs) in Computer Science or related fields from prestigious institutions.
