Program Advisory Committee (PAC) – Virginia University of Science & Technology (VUST)
Virginia University of Science & Technology (VUST) established its Program Advisory Committee (PAC) in 2019 in accordance with accreditation requirements. Each occupational program, or group of related occupational programs (referred to as a “program area”), is assigned an independent PAC.
The primary purpose of the PAC is to provide an external review of the university’s programs. This includes evaluating established curricula, instructional materials, equipment and facilities, and student achievement outcomes. Through this process, the committee ensures that VUST programs remain relevant, effective, and aligned with industry and academic standards.
According to accreditation regulations, PAC members must consist of qualified representatives external to the institution (i.e., non-university employees). These members bring independent perspectives and expertise, ensuring a meaningful review of the university’s programs, resources, and supporting materials.

Program Advisory Committee review and comment activities must include:
i. Review, at least annually, the established curriculum of the program and comment as to the appropriateness and adequacy of the program objectives, program length, curriculum content (including academic general education or applied general education as appropriate), learning resources, and the adequacy of facilities and equipment.
ii. Review and comment, at least annually, on student graduation, graduate employment, and where required, state licensing examination outcomes of each program.
iii. Review and comment on the appropriateness of curriculum objectives, program length, and curriculum content of all new programs prior to submission for Commission approval.
The PAC members will not be assigned particular tasks or responsibilities by VUST. PAC Board members are honorary positions and volunteers.
