Transfer Student Admission Requirements
Transfer students must meet the admission requirements in effect at the time of matriculation and must comply with the same admission procedures for each selected educational program, as outlined in the academic programs.
A. Domestic Students Transfers
The admission requirements for domestic students transferring from other accredited schools mirror those for new domestic applicants in the same program.
B. International Students Transfers
The admission criteria for international students transferring from other accredited American schools align with those for initial international applicants. However, they must also submit three additional documents:
i. A copy of a valid I-20 from current school
ii. A copy of a valid F-1 visa
iii. A copy of the I-94 form
Transfer Credits from Other Accredited Schools
Transfer credits may be awarded for graduate courses with a letter grade of “B” or higher. Courses of a technical nature must have been completed within the past seven (7) years to be considered for transfer credit (TC). Applicable courses taken for credit at international or foreign institutions must be evaluated by an approved credential evaluation agency before a TC award can be considered.
Per SCHEV regulation 8VAC40-31-140-B6, for all undergraduate programs, including certificate programs, the maximum number of transfer credits accepted cannot exceed 70% of the program completion requirements. For all graduate programs, the maximum number of transfer credits cannot exceed 49% of the program completion requirements.
